We are getting married... in less than a month!!

It's official, Kyle and I are getting married this summer! We are having a very small wedding on one of the St. Charles Paddlewheel Riverboats on the Fox River.

With less than a month to plan the whole shindig, we have a lot to do, but we have a lot of amazing friends who are helping us make our day special. Dana Cullum, a good friend and Chicago-based graphic designer put together our wedding invitations in less than a week. They are perfect. Everything we wanted. Now that we have the invitations, there's no backing out :)

Self-indulgent? Perhaps. I figure we probably can't dress him in 'I love Mommy' shirts for very long. We are going to take full advantage while we can :)

Boy Oh Boy

Today Raven, Hope and our moms came with us to our twenty-ish week ultrasound. We found out we are having a baby boy! It's so nice to stop calling the baby "it" and start saying "him". Now we just need to think of a name, something that we won't get sick of yelling whenever he's doing something naughty :) Suggestions are welcome.

Kyle and I have been talking for a while about getting hitched sometime before our baby is born. Not because we are traditional (obviously) and not because it will change the love that we share, but because in some small way it's important for us to share a last name when our family is born.

This morning I found out that a semi-surprise wedding was being planned for us. This is not a sure thing, but if it happens we will get married sometime this summer and have a big bash with all of our friends and family next summer. That would be awesome, but we'll see what happens...

We are too excited about our little baby boy to think about weddings right now!!!

The Beginning

Since Kyle and I moved to the intersection of Broadway and Cornelia in April of 2009 our lives and relationship have changed in profound and amazing ways. Although just a temporary rental, this apartment has come to signify home, family and future. I could not have chosen a better place to start my life or a better person to start my life with. No matter where we end up, this apartment will always hold a special place in my heart. It was here that two of the most amazing moments of my life have occurred.

• On February 8, 2010 Kyle and I got the greatest surprise of our lives. We are having a baby! After about 24-hours of initial shock, our excitement kicked in and we haven't looked back since. Our baby is due October 14, 2010. We can not wait to share our lives with the sweet baby growing inside of me.
• On April 13, 2010 Kyle proposed to me. He got 100 roses, decorated our apartment and got down on one knee as I arrived home from work. It was perfect, intimate and personal. I can't wait to be Mrs. Johnson!

As our lives continue to change and my belly continues to grow I'm going to make an honest effort to keep everyone up to speed on our lives, the little one and our future wedding plans.
